Lower East Side graphic identity (cont’d)
The
mosaic concept carries through as a design fromework in a wide variety
of materials produced by the BID. Banners, annual reports, invitations,
etc. It provides a way to quickly organize almost any type of communication. For example, see this annual report spread at right.

We also wanted to incorporate an element of place in the identity, so we developed the triangle symbol to evoke the “bottom right” location of the neighborhood. (As in lower east part of the Manhattan map.) The triangle logo provides a neat way of communicating this, and is used as a kind of “thumbprint” to identify materials produced by the BID office.
